Creating a circular economy for plastic CDs
RE-CD, a Circular Economy
obsolete CDs & DVDs...
..enter them into our circular economy design system..
..then reprocess the materials we create into new products.
We are much more than recycling alone..
Our materials and products are handmade to achieve the highest quality. We aim to match the properties and finish of virgin materials creating durable longevity.
All of our products are repairable and recyclable back into our circular system. We believe in giving new life to products at the end of their lifecycle.
We take care in sourcing materials locally where possible. By using local fabrication, we support independent and ethical UK suppliers and makers.
How it all started
Revive Innovations was founded by Kieran Devlin, a Bristol based designer and entrepreneur.
Whilst in his final year at University studying product design, he noticed that vast quantities of CDs are becoming obsolete each month resulting in an estimate of over 1 million years of decomposition in landfill.
Through experimental design, he developed a processing method that produces a unique composite made from 100% recycled material.
RE-CD is Revive Innovations current project, working to improve CD recycling infrastructure, whilst creating beautiful circular products.
We want to challenge consumer attitudes towards sustainable design, and prove that recycled products can be as beautiful and functional as those made from virgin materials.
We would never compromise quality by using recycled materials. Our products are designed and built for longevity.
Our mission is to reduce the effect of post-consumer waste on the environment and create an alternative way to manufacture products using local makers and sustainable practices.
Through buying into our products and using our design services you are adopting our values and beliefs, supporting our mission to change the way we consume.
We are aiming towards being 100% material preserving in our production and machining of our recycled material.
